I've started selling some of my toys & collectibles. As both an eBay Partner and Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. |
My brother Tony reminded me of the existence of this game though neither of us could remember the name or complete details. Once we again saw a picture and description of the game on eBay we both agreed that Transogram's Spy's-A-Poppin is the coolest game every made. The game is huge, about 18 inches wide and 27 inches tall when assembled. The idea is to use the Magi-Scope dart gun to shoot the spys who will blow up the girl hostage if you miss.
Access to the house is gained by shooting the bomb on the roof which causes the facade panel to fall down exposing the interior. There are two spys hiding behind the pictures on the wall and you can see them if you look through the red Magi-Scope atop the gun. When the upper picture is shot out it releases the master spy who comes down the stairs and will hit the TNT plunger and blow up the hostage if you don't shoot him before he reaches it. HOW FREAKIN' COOL IS THAT?!?!?!?!?
My game came complete with the instructions but also with various problem including a base that was cracked in half and a broken-off plunger handle. With careful gluing, clamping, and fiberglassing the game is as good as new. Now if only I had an original Magi-Scope dart gun which is missing in its entirety from my set. I saw a Mint-Unopened-Box copy of this game sell on eBay for $500.00. Mine was purchased using Buy-It-Now for $60.00 plus shipping, an exception deal. Item number 3931 dated 1966.
