The Chevallero has been Sold! Thanks for all the interest.
Up for sale is my well-loved vintage 1972 Chevallero Sportscoach 25'
Class A Motorhome. I've owned since November 2005 and have taken it
camping to Chama, Elephant Butte, and most often to the Turquoise Trail
campgrounds in the east mountains during Southwest Vintage Camper Association Rallys (swvca.com).
You can see many pictures and much info on the coach on my vintage campers pages:
The coach has about 123K miles on it, the transmission was rebuilt at 106K, the engine was rebuilt at 111K (both by a previous owner). Powered by a Chevrolet 402 Big Block, the coach runs quite well and will cruise at highway speeds getting about 7.5mpg (6.5mpg when towing a half-ton jetski trailer). A nice floorplan, the coach has twin beds in the rear that can be turned sideways into a queen, a four person dinette that converts into a small double bed and even has fold-down bunk beds in the rear. Kitchen features a four burner stove and an eye-level oven, microwave oven, dual stainless steel sinks, and a sizable electric/propane fridge. The wet bath is done in classic harvest gold with working sink and toilet. The shower does not work as the faucet needs replaced. I'm afraid the coach has a propane leak which I haven't gotten fixed so have never used the hot water heater or furnace. I've seen the fridge run on propane (during my test drive with previous owner) but have always run it on electric due to the propane leak. I have a lead on a good propane man who can likely isolate and fix the leak. The rooftop Coleman air conditioner works great when on shore power. The Onan 4K genset starts and runs but doesn't speed up under load as it should to run the roof air. AM/FM/Cassette in dash with speakers front and rear. Dash A/C does not work.
I bought the coach to attend vintage camper rallys and to see if I could stomach staying couped up in a motorhome for any length of time with the hope of retiring into a full-time RV lifestyle. My trips in the Chevallero have led me to believe I can live in an RV upon retirement and I have just purchased a 35' diesel pusher (with washer/dryer and a dishwasher—woo hoo!). It's time to let go of my baby. She can be yours for only $3000 OBO. I have many more pictures available and will happily give you the grand tour of the coach at your convenience. I have a clear NM title.
Complete listing of what I've done to the coach is below the picture. Thanks for stopping by. Please contact me at 505-228-9640 (eves/weekends) or sam@samstoybox.com if interested in seeing. Coach is located near Lomas & Tramway, Albuquerque, NM.
